All about Underwater Cameras

Underwater photography is one of the most recognised types of camera work all around the world. Not only because of the level of skill it requires, but it is also due to the fact that, until recently, it has required financial capabilities which were beyond the ordinary diver's reach. Fortunately, time has changed that fact; the dream of having photo shoots under the wonderful world of the ocean has been turned into a reality by technological advances. One can now take pictures of this amazing environment with just a modest investment.

The underwater camera has provided divers with an endless array of artistic challenges. However, for those who came unprepared, it has also endangered lives. The reason for this is that these individuals usually tend to become too excited during their photo shoot that they start to pay less attention to their pressure gauges. Nevertheless, for those who are ready to take on the challenge responsibly, then this activity can offer a lot of excitement.

There are three types of cameras that are recommended for scuba divers. First on the line is the disposable underwater film camera. It is famous for its cheap price and it is suggested for those who are only willing to dive only once in a while. Second is the point-and-shoot digital camera, which is protected by a tough exterior housing. This one is a little bit more expensive than the former but it offers a wider range of features. Furthermore, it can also be used countless times depending on how well it is maintained. Last but not the least is the SLR, which also needs to be protected by a housing exterior. This piece of equipment is much more versatile than the other two; however, it also comes with a bigger price tag. This device, though, is preferred by most if not all professionals.
